Skylar Lanier, IFBB Bikini Pro

2018 Jr. USA's Overall Bikini Champion and new IFBB Bikini Pro

Skylar: I was so excited to compete at Jr. USAís. The entire weekend was so calm and smooth. It was kind of odd how excited I was to be there. I was so calm through everything.

Prep this year for me was completely different Kim Oddo had me doing things very slow which worked extremely well for my body. We did a 14 weeks prep instead of a 12 week prep. With food it was little by little that was taken out. When it comes to training I train 6 Days a week. And I give it everything Iíve got. I follow tempos given on my workouts and I really focus on that muscle kind connection. When it comes to posing I practice every second I can get. Because if you are always practicing your posing when you get on that stage it should just flow naturally.

ďA picture is worth a thousand words.Ē This is by far one of my favorite photos taken this past weekend. This shows all my hard work for fours years finally paying off. All the years of blood, sweat, and tears, all the years of over coming the mental blocks, peoples negativity towards me competing. All of the ups and the downs over these four years captured in one second. It still hasnít hit me and I donít know if it ever will. Thank you @danrayphoto for capturing this very special moment for me. ?? . . . The most challenging this about this last prep was juggling owning my own gym, getting all cardio in, workouts, and everyday life in order. Thank goodness I have my fiance and our business partner that helped me out a lot and made sure I didnít stress.

Being an athlete has totally changed my life. Years ago I was overweight and extremely unhappy with my body. I ate crappy, was super lazy and unmotivated. I would have never in a million years would have thought I would be here. Now that I love a completely different lifestyle I am so happy with my self image. Iím motivated, active, and a lot happier.

I am taking 5 weeks off then back into prep for my Pro Debut in October. I am beyond excited and blessed to have the opportunity to live out my dreams.
