Ashley Nicastro - IFBB Bikini Pro

A New IFBB Pro!
Ashley Nicastro won her Pro card at the 2017 Jr. Nationals

Ashley: My love for health and fitness started with playing every sport imaginable growing up- I was involved with gymnastics, dance, basketball, soccer, softball, and track. Being an athlete my whole life gave me purpose and allowed to continually challenge myself. My life ultimately changed when I was introduced to the weight room my senior of college. I was so intrigued about learning new exercises, loved seeing my body transform, and learning about proper nutrition. That was the year when I found my passion for bodybuilding. Soon after I graduated, I was approached at my local gym about competing in my first NPC bikini competition. I did my research, hired a coach, and boomÖthe rest is history. That day is where I found my passion and introduced me to sport that I forever want to be a part of.

Diet off-season vs. pre-contest: My diet really doesn't change that much. Iím an intuitive eater and eat clean foods year round. Thatís what makes me feel the best and fuels my workouts. I obviously reverse diet properly and slowly bring my macros up in my offseason but stick with the same type of foods. l eat good proteins, healthy fats, complex carbs, veggies, and have my refeed meals in moderation. When I do have a refeed, I love my sushi or big juicy burger. Now thatís the way to my heart.

Most effective plan: Sticking with a stick nutritional plan and supplementing my body with wholesome nutrition foods. Eating my 6 meals a day every 2- 3 hours keeps my metabolism revved up. Itís like a machine that keeps going! Iím also am a big believer on meal timing with when to eat certain foods at different times of the day. Lastly, always staying hydrated. I carry my allow jug everywhere I go!

Failed diet: I would say a very low calorie diet with low fats and carbs and doing an excessive amount of cardio. For my body, it doesn't work. I need a moderate carb intake, my body likes the carbs! Depending on where my body is at Iíll usually do 30 minutes of HIIT! My body responds well to interval training on the arch climber, sprints on treadmill, or good sweat session on the stair master session.

OMG MY REACTION! Am I the biggest sap ever ???????? Haha get it together, Ash! But on a real note, Best. Moment. Ever. Right. Here. ???????? _______ I still can't describe the feeling. I felt each moment that I pushed through to get here. The setbacks, the moments where I questioned everything. The blood, the sweat, the tears. The times were I stumbled. Fell. But I never stopped getting back up. ....Immediately all those feelings were followed by an overwhelming sense of gratitude and achievement. Every moment, was worth it. __ If any message I can share is to NEVER give up on your dreams bc one day you will be living the dream you've imagined in your head over and over and it'll be better and sweeter than you could've imagined????????. @bodybyo #Dreamchasin #NeverGiveUp #Believe #Goforwhatyouwant #JrNationals #npcbikini #bikinicompetitor #BikiniClassG #iffbbpro #girlswholift #girlswithmuscle #fitnessjourney #fitnessmotivation #bodybuilding #aesthetics #fitnesslover #fitfam #fitlife

I love lifting more than anything. Thatís the fun part to me. I have a 5-6 day spilt that consist of three lower body days, one back/bicep day, and shoulder/tricep day. All my cardio and training is intense and what I found most effective to achieving results. I always get my cardio down in the morning and then concentrate on my lift during my second session.

Building self-confidence: Practicing my posing religiously. Having an audience and a coach help critique me and give me honest feedback. Also, self-confidence comes with within. So knowing I put 110% to getting my body ready for show is all I need to know. Lastly and most importantly, believing in yourself and your abilities. Have no doubts or fears. You worked so hard to get your body to where itís at, so be PROUD of yourself and the moment you have to showcase it. It's all about having fun up there, enjoying it, and embracing each moment.

My experience at Jr. Nationals was nothing short of magical. Everything ran extremely smooth for us competitors. During the athlete check-ins, everyone was so welcoming and excited for us competitors to be there. We even received awesome goodie bags full of supplements from all the sponsors. Prejudging ran pretty quickly and was very organized back stage. I had so many Ďfeelsí right before I got on stage. I get this crazy adrenal rush where I get so excited but nervous all at the same time! I love it though. To me, Finals was the fun part. I definitely was most relaxed during the night show and just had fun. I was super elated and even got a little emotional after receiving my pro card. All the real Ďfeelsí all hit me at once. Overall, it was the best day of my life and I couldnít be more grateful.
